In this article we’ll look at the benefits of CBD body butter and talk about how it can be used to relieve troublesome symptoms (including pain) and do so in a natural way.
As a Licensed Massage Therapist, the number one thing people complain about to me is pain. You would think that it would be from working hard, not stretching or drinking enough water (which is part of it), but most people complain from just waking up and being in pain from just sleeping the wrong way. Let alone, being active and having fun.
My mom used to tell me, “Well Samantha, you play, you pay!” and I would bounce right back the next day.
Fast forward to 30 years later, and if I don’t sleep on my back, everything hurts!
CBD Body Butter And Pain Relief
Keeping this in mind and knowing that most clientele also want pain relief “now”, I had to come up with a product that would help a lot of people’s pain “right now”.
I also was thinking, if you’re going to make a product people can put all over their body, then why not make it smooth, moisturizing, and deeply conditioning with not only CBD, but other great ingredients as well.
Then it hit me, a CBD body butter would be able to do all of those things with just the right ingredients.
We combined grapeseed oil, shea butter, coconut oil, beeswax, arnica oil, and just a hint of orange essential oil as well as hemp derived CBD to create our amazing Silverdome Gardens CBD Body Butter.

Why The Ingredients In CBD Body Butter Matter
What do each of these ingredients do to help you?
Let’s dive in!
Grapeseed oil is oil that is pressed from the seeds of grapes which is a by-product of the oil used for making wines. It is known for its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties, as well as high amounts of vitamin E, making it a great treatment for the skin.
Since grapeseed oil makes the skin softer, and absorbs nicely, it is known for helping with acne treatments, lightening the skin and tightening your pores!
The next item on our list of ingredients is Shea Butter.
Shea Butter is a fat extracted from the nut of the African shea tree. It is ivory in color when raw and commonly dyed yellow with borututu root or palm oil.
According to Bulk Apothecary, shea butter has many benefits including, but not limited to: containing vitamins A, E, and F, highly moisturizing, skin softening, calms irritated skin, natural SPF and sun burn relief, anti inflammatory properties that eases aches and pains, soothes and heals burns, relieves joint pain, natural hair conditioner, restores elasticity, fades scars, stretch marks, and dark spots, soothes eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, burns, and wounds, protects skin from free radicals, eliminates shaving bumps and can even help with anti-aging!
Holy cow, all of that in just one ingredient, of course we had to add it to our CBD Body Butter!
Next up we have Coconut Oil.
Coconut oil is made by pressing fresh coconut meat or dried coconut meat from mature coconuts. The processing of it does not involve high temperatures or chemicals, which is great!
While reading through the benefits and uses of coconut oil, I decided it was a must to add to our CBD body butter.
Not only does it moisturize dry skin, it also reduces inflammation, can promote wound healing and contains great antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties.
Are you seeing a trend here?!
All of the ingredients we are adding are all supposed to support your skin and help promote healing, which means less pain. These first three ingredients are also great for skin absorption, and I knew we were on the right track.

How It All Came Together
I started to stir all of these wonderful skin care ingredients together and discovered we needed a binding agent.
Something natural, scent free, and colorless. I began doing research and landed on beeswax. Beeswax is naturally occurring wax that is produced in the hives by the honeybees.
They have glands under their abdomen that secretes the wax and then it is used to build the honeycomb. Beeswax is extracted from the nest when the beekeepers extract the honey.
They cut off the wax caps from each honeycomb cell, with an uncapping knife or machine.
Besides just being a binding agent, Beeswax has some great benefits for the skin. It can brighten your complexion, it has anti-inflammatory (there’s that word again) and antibacterial properties, it can help fade scars and is packed with vitamin A to help fight against the free radicals that cause signs of early aging and lastly it’s a natural humectant.
What the heck does that mean?!
That means it’s filled with protective wax that helps to draw moisture to your skin and keep it there.
How cool! So all of the other ingredients will soften and moisturize and the beeswax can help to keep it all in. This CBD Body Butter was getting better and better with each ingredient, but I couldn’t just stop there. Knowledge is power, right?
Adding Oils Made Things Even Better
While attending massage school I learned about a lot of different massage oils, essential oils, as well as oils that help for skin, muscle and joint care.
One that always stuck out to me and I continue to use is Arnica Oil.
Arnica oil comes from the perennial Arnica montana, a yellow-orangish flower that grows in the mountains of Europe and Siberia.
It is sometimes called the mountain daisy because of its appearance. Creams and ointments are usually made from it, or you can use pure arnica oil, which is what we’ve added to our CBD Body Butter.
A few uses of arnica oil are to decrease muscle soreness and aches, decrease bruising as well as to decrease joint pain, swelling, and inflammation.
Once again, what do all of these properties lead to? Our end goal, LESS PAIN.
Therapy In How It Smells
After I had the perfect ingredients for a skin care product that focuses on pain relief, among lots of other benefits, I wanted it to also bring people joy when they thought about the smell of putting it on after a fresh shower, and make them smile.
Orange essential oil, like arnica, is made using a cold-pressed method which uses pressure, opposed to chemicals, to squeeze the oils from the rind. Sometimes, the leaves and flowers from the orange plant can be used as well. According to healthline.com, orange oil has many uses. A few of the common ways that orange oil is used is to:
- Lift your mood or reduce stress
- Treat skin conditions such as acne
- Reduce pain and inflammation (!)
How perfect is that? An oil that smells good, can lift your mood, and help to reduce pain and inflammation, I thought that was just the scent we needed.
*A few notes about orange oil and safety. Orange oil has a risk of phototoxicity. Although it is low, you should still be aware to not use this product and then go sit in the sun. Phototoxicity means they can cause a painful skin reaction if you use them and go out in the sun.
There is so little in our CBD Body Butter, that I don’t ever see it being a problem, but I would exercise caution knowing about its phototoxic properties.

The Star of The Show: Hemp Derived CBD
Lastly, you can’t have CBD Body Butter without its main ingredient, hemp derived CBD, farmed right here at our farm in the Willamette Valley, Oregon.
You’re probably wondering, what is CBD and how can it help being in body butter for me?
Well friends, CBD is short for Cannabidiol, a molecule that makes up a hemp plant. Yes, there is also CBD in Hemp’s cousin plant, Cannabis, but Cannabis is typically high in THC with little to none in the CBD department.
Hemp is just the opposite, FULL of CBD and little to no THC. All of our products are THC FREE. CBD hemp flowers are non-psychoactive, which means it will not get its user high.
Today, CBD is considered one of the most studied cannabinoids of the hemp plant, primarily because it is believed to have a range of therapeutic properties. The human (and animal bodies) have naturally occurring neurotransmitters to take in cannabidiol, which are a group of fatty compounds found in hemp but also produced by other plants and the human body.
Researchers found a few benefits that CBD has are: it can significantly reduce intense pain, itchy sensations, and cold.
Other research also suggests that topical CBD may be useful for treating joint and muscle pain associated with other conditions, such as migraine. Topical CBD may also benefit certain skin disorders. Since every person reacts differently, their results may vary.
Final Thoughts on CBD Body Butter Benefits
Here at Silverdome Gardens we have had amazing feedback on our body butter and continue to use it daily ourselves.
Personally, I apply the CBD Body Butter after I get out of the shower to prevent dry skin, and on my body throughout the day, to help with pain and inflammation, particularly in my hands, neck, and feet from working.
The pain relief starts about 10-15 minutes after application and it’s so wonderful to feel the difference. Your life really begins when the pain stops and that’s why we made this company. To help you and your animals have another alternative for your wellbeing.
